I didn't like when Sven was scratched the first time but this time it makes more sense. He didn't play very well last game looks like he might even be a little banged up.

Scratching younger guys shouldn't be considered a bad thing. It lets them know that the coaching staff isn't happy with their play and that they still need to grow their game. It also shows the team what the players character is like. If the player is willing to take it as a learning opportunity rather than a demotion and work on their game it's only going to help. So far both Sven and backlund have said and done the right things after being scratched.

The one thing I didn't like was when Hartley put Jackman in over Bouma. Bouma is a better player in every way than Jackman and can play in more situations than Jackman can.

Lastly, one thing Edmonton didn't due until recently was scratch their young struggling players. So if you're doing something the opposite if the oilers, it means you're doing something the right way which is how you avoid a decade+ long rebuild.
