Not to belittle Berra's effort...but...one has to commend the effort of the TEAM as well...26 blocked shots, the TEAM rose to battle for the kid...true, 40 some shots DID get through, but, on the whole, they were perimeter shots that the Flames made sure he had a good look at.
He may indeed be your next #1 guy in net...and if he inspires the team to battle, as they did last night, then he has to be that guy...Goaltenders that engender that kind of team loyalty can be special...
It remains to be seen if your team can A. Maintain that kind of Defensive effort, in shot blocking, boxing out on rebounds, and keeping shooting lanes clear of screens and B. improve possession, to allow 70 attempts toward the net is NOT a recipe for long term success...Your guys have to possess the puck and move it away.
Defense is much easier 200 feet away from your goaltender.
