They might take away demand, but they make more business sense. That's why we always (unfortunately) see Calgary with the twins...they spreads the risk around. The sweet skyscrapers with lasers on the roof that I used to draw in elementary school have about as much chance of being built as this thing.

I'm not arguing that a big commercial project is likely to go ahead in Edmonton because Edmonton hasn't had much medium-sized projects. Lack of mid-sized construction is also an indicator of weak demand.
