Not that 2004 is recent either, but the draft after Kesler yielded Schneider, Edler and Jannik Hansen. Also a solid 4th liner in Mike Brown.

From 2005 - 2010 their 1st round picks netted Bourdon, Grabner, White, Hodgson, Schroeder and that lovely Ballard trade. Two top 6 forwards, a piece that landed Ehrhoff and an unfortunate passing. As for Schroeder, jury is still out after an up and down 31 game stint last year. The general hope is you net two NHLers of some sort from each draft.


That said, their drafting could still have been better.
