Legit question for Bouw here, because this is something I thought about after watching a 'yotes-Flames game. I find the style of hockey they play just so nauseating (I don't mind defensive hockey at all, but the obvious lack of offensive thrust is brutal to watch), but I totally get the strategy. Do what you can with what you have, and do whatever it takes to win. That is clearly working (wins-wise) but it is an incredibly boring product.
My question in, lets say the Coyotes pull an Oilers over the last few years and get 3 or 4 really dynamic, highly-touted offensive kids and go with a run and gun style. They likely have more losses than wins because they open up more, but they play a really exciting brand of hockey. Do you think they sell more tickets/generate more interest if they play more like the guys up north, regardless of wins and losses?
