They might take away demand, but they make more business sense. That's why we always (unfortunately) see Calgary with the twins...they spreads the risk around. Edmonton has had what, 1 or 2 office tower projects in the last 20 years? They need to prove they can develop and make a 30 story buildings work, before they pull out the big guns from Sherwood Park.

The sweet skyscrapers with lasers on the roof that I used to draw in elementary school have about as much chance of being built as this thing.
