When you pay someone else's bills, you can tell them what you want done with their money. If an opposing team's fan is willing to give a STH $400 for a pair of tickets that only cost the STH $75, it might be worth it to that STH. That one game just covered 13% of the STH cost and may allow the fan to attend a few more games if he is strapped for cash and/or shares his seats with someone else. Maybe a STH sells all the tickets to the Toronto, Montreal, Pittsburgh and Boston games to opposing fans, and then can afford to go to the other 37 games. This STH might not be able to attend any games if it weren't for reselling tickets. Yes, I expect muta to make his infamous $100k line soon after this is posted.
Ideally every STH would go to every home game, wear red, and cheer loudly for the Flames. This is in no way possible. Some people can't go to games, for whatever reason. They then have the decision to give the tickets away or sell them. It makes a lot of sense to receive as much money as possible if you are selling them. It would be hard to turn down 4-5 times what someone else is willing to pay, just because that person wears a different colour jersey. That doesn't make the seller a clown or disgusting.
