If you are familiar with console launch history, there is actually some interesting analogies that others have suggested with a "third console curse".
Sony is seen as being incredibly arrogant upon the PS3 launch - as Erick Estrada mentioned the proprietary cell processor, the infamous
"599 US dollars" and that they saw the PS3 as
"for consumers who think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else."
Similarly, some gamers are looking at Microsoft's perceived (rightly or wrongly) arrogance with the Xbone launch - their DRM plans, their poor messaging, 180 panicking, etc.
Is there a real curse? Probably not, but watching these launches is certainly interesting.
