Clearly in the minority on this, but I think Phaneuf is a solid player. He has his holes (as all players do), but he brings a ton of his jam in his game which a lot of dmen don't. As a comparison, I take Phaneuf at 7 over Bouwmeester at 6.8 every day of the week. Better offence, similar minutes, worse defense but a lot more emotion from Phaneuf.
