It also cannot be understated just how awful the NFC East is. There's a 90% chance 7-9 or 8-8 wins that division. If they didn't play each other in division it might be four 5-11 teams. The Giants might still be the favourites at 6 loses.
Yeah, but every year someone gets into the playoff because their schedule let them play a lot of bad teams. Someone can argue that Kansas City and San Diego are also benefitting from an easy schedule. So in the case of Carolina they can put up 4-5 wins within their Division. They are matched up against the AFC East so they may be able to pull off 3 wins there. This year a team with 10 wins will have a shot at the second wild card spot. No one else in the South is going to win more than 8 games. No one in the NFC East is a threat. So is Arizona, Detroit or Chicago going to be able to win 10 games? Detroit is a possibility but the other teams don't look like it to me. So that leaves Carolina as having a shot.

In terms of the NFC East, I think Dallas can run the table in that Division, at worst go 5-1...It would be pretty funny to see a team with a 6-0 Division record finish at 8-8 and win the Division (The Raiders actually did this in 2010 but didn't win the Division but they had a 8-8 record with a 6-0 Division record), and I think that's exactly what happens. At least the Cowboys have competed in their 4 losses losing two games by a single point and by a field goal to Denver. Which is something the other NFC East teams really aren't doing.
