The point of a rebuild is to build a stronger roster in the future by exchanging current assets for future assets. Anyone who thinks the Flames current prospect base will have us atop the conference in a few years is dreaming. Like every team, most of our prospects will be busts or marginal NHLers. We still need more picks and higher picks to outdraft our rivals in the coming years. The way to get them is by trading current assets.

We don't have to move out all of our vets. But I expect two of Cammalleri, Stajan, and Glencross to be gone by next year's draft.
