For example: Google local gets its data from yellowpages.ca. A link from there can probably had for ~ 300 for a year and will almost instantly add you to the searchj mix. Links from local business sites like
http://www.findabusiness.ca/ can be had for < 100 year and will get you indexed all over the search engines without worrying about the search engines themselves. None of them have unique traffic to send you, but they capture the search traffic for you without paying some schmuk thousands for SEO work.
Also: be sure to set up a google adwords account. Cheap and everything is trackable and controlable.

Great idea. Make sure they throw in links to your website from theirs - preferably their homepage. Not because you want the traffic (it'll be small) but because that link makes search engines think you must be important. If you're driving traffic to their website to 'click and win' then the rate should reflect that.
