With Gio injured who else is supposed to slide into the top 4? Breen? O'Brien? Calgary doesn't have a lot of depth on d. This is something we all saw coming into the season.
As for Sven I thought he has played well this season and I'm a little surprised that they benched him, but realistically young players get benched sometimes. At some point Monahan will probably take a seat too. Doesn't mean they are playing bad, just means they have a lot more to learn.
