I would do the "Standing Room" seating for flights as well. There'd be less chance of developing the deadly blood clots in your legs, I wouldn't have to be shoehorned into a tiny seat and it might make for some interesting situations with attractive passengers in your row. "oops, sorry about that...really cramped in here, eh?" There could be some difficulties with stowing carry on luggage as there wouldn't be a seat to put your bag underneath.
