There are so many on this forum who think Macdonald is a good goalie because of his diving saves that he has no business making. He forces himself into making these highlight reel saves with his TERRIBLE positioning all the time. He's always going down early and doesn't have the athleticism to get over in time. If he can't get a lucky paddle on the puck it's an easy empty net goal. This happens several times per game.
NHL goalies need to be against the post and push off across to the other post when necessary. When Mac is 5 feet out of his crease, all he can do is flop to the other side of the net. Other teams will realize his major flaw soon if they haven't already and it'll be open season.
Macdonald is a joke, plain and simple. There's a reason he's never been a starter in the NHL, he doesn't have much talent. He can scramble and make stops, but never confidently and never consistently.
