Hudler has to be considered for NHL Player of the month for October along with Ovechkin and Crosby.
This is the first time in his career where he has been playing more than 16/17 minutes. He really deserves is making use of the extra 5 minutes.
Last year his ice time (and importance on the team) was definitely secondary to Tanguay, Iginla and Cammalleri. This year with these 3 guys gone the opportunity was there for Hudler to step up and he is taking advantage.
will he keep it up when as Cammalleri and Stajan are back to share the veteran leadership role?
The same thing is happening on defense where Gio, Wideman and Brodie are playing a lot better than last year (and expected) when they were "sheltered" by Bouwmeester.
