Even if Glencross is willing to be dealt, he will control where he goes – and we saw how that plays out with Iginla. Limiting the market also limits what you can get for the asset.
For all the outcry to scratch Glencross or what not – this organization is not in a position asset-wise to deal a player when he potentially nets a lower return than he should. They need to work with him to improve his performance, and ideally return him to being an important part of the core. At minimum though that will also help his value.
We’ve seen time and time again how scratching a vet plays out – it rarely works and most often leads to the player being dealt where they improve their performance.
