I think 4 pretty much eliminates that.

Ohio State doesn't even deserve to be considered this year. I feel sorry for them that they play in such a crappy conference, but it is a very crappy conference. 1 loss Stanford, Alabama, Missouri, FSU and Oregon teams would all deserve to be there ahead of undefeated Ohio State. Not all undefeated teams are the same. Thats what worries me about the playoff committee: Would they really stiff Ohio State, big time cash making university that it is, ahead of Missouri even if Missouri played a much more difficult schedule? I really doubt it.
Out of conference games have almost died off in significance anyway with the big conferences. As it stands now, most contending teams have at most one decent out of conference match up. Of all the teams that would be in the contention for a 4 game playoff, only Alabama will have a win against a ranked out of conference team. OOC schedules are more fluke than planning anyway. You only really have one or two games that you can schedule a good opponent, and it is a crap shoot whether that opponent has a good year or not. Should Alabama have an advantage because Va Tech ended up being ok, while FSU gets punished because Florida lost 3 games?

Conference championships are the only part of the game where each team controls their own destiny and should really be the framework for the NC.
