I disagree. Being flippant about the salary cap in regards to ELC contracts is perfectly acceptable. You're saying "well it's dangerous not to care about giving NTC like Sutter did because you get into cap trouble" when the argument isn't about that at all, it has nothing to DO with it. This is about Sean Monahan and his second contract, and when he will have to sign it. In this case, yes, WHO CARES about the salary cap. You shouldn't care in this scenario because you're talking about the proper development of one of your future premier players.
Were someone saying "well let's resign Cammy with long term NTC because who cares we have lots of cap!" You may have a point. But nobody is saying that, and in this particular scenario, "Who cares about the cap" is the absolutely correct way of thinking.
