there's a difference between rough luck and trying and then just not really trying, which is the case in Glencross. I don't agree that people are overreacting because they know that if he was trying he would be a key player.
The NTC to me just means that if you can't trade him you healthy scratch him a game or two to send the message that there are a lot of young guys waiting in the wings to take a spot on the ice if all it means is to try.
If I was Hartley I'd sit him down in private, tell him he needs to work harder and if he doesn't then healthy scratch him a game and see what happens.
I despise how when vets on this team don't try they get free rides from everybody from management to fans to coaches to teammates. No, it's just laziness. End of story. Why doesn't Blair Jones get the same treatment? Because he's not as good? I bet you any money he is just as good as Glencross is right now.
