Crosby is the Gretzky of this generation.

That doesn't mean he's better than or comparable to Gretzky or any other legendary player, but he is the best and most dominating player of his time, as Gretzky was in his time.

Who cares which is better? That isn't what the statement "The Gretzky of this generation" means.
