Given all the missed kicks that Shaw has missed against the Stamps over the past few years makes me wonder if down, not so deep, he's a Stamps fan.
Seeing a play like that makes me wonder even more. In one case, I can see the idea. Have even seen it done before.
Given that the line was pulling across there, it was a Kavis Reed called play. If the ability to run is there to get the first down is there, go for it. If Calgary falls asleep on coverage, find the open guy for a pass, do it...but if neither of those are immediately available, kick it. Problem is he took about 5 seconds to long to make that decision. You can't stop your momentum and get a kick off as quickly as a throw, but Shaw thought he could.
Even if he got that kick away, it's likely to go 15-20 yards at most.
