It's funny because the Canadian media has been going nuts over the great Bobby Ryan since going the Sens, and he hasn't been at Lupul's level the past 3 years.

He was not invited to the Canadian Olympic team camp, has about 0 chance of making the team and has put up points in a limited time because he has had trouble staying healthy. Had he done that while playing a majority of the games he may be considered one of the "very best forwards" in the NHL but he can't so he is not considered one of the best. He is in the next level of good not great forwards, which is nothing to be ashamed of.
I am a big supporter of the Leafs on here and stand up for them and their players as much if not more than most posters. But saying that Lupul who isn't in the top 20, probably not 30, forwards in the league is not amongst the "very best" is far from "freaking out if you compliment a Leafs player." People disagreeing that Bernier was considered a Franchise goalie is not freaking out if you compliment a Leafs player.
The so-called Leafs bias is overstated by most people around the country but it is laughable to say the media hate the Leafs more than any other team. At best they are treated the same as other teams, most likely they get a bit more love because so many media members grew up as Leafs fans and a little bias might show through.
I follow sports and different media quite a bit and outside of people doing stories on Bobby Ryan's very interesting past I haven't heard anyone going nuts over him.
Again no issue with being a Leafs fan and complimenting them but having to have it be Lupul is amongst the very best and Bernier is a Franchise goalie and not just realistic comments is what gets tiring.
