I still say you guys are dreaming or are smoking some awesome weed if you figure Cammy is worth a 1st rounder by the time April rolls around.
You missed Jagr and Pominville who also returned 1sts.

And yet history also supports our argument when players like Kyle Quincey, Paul Gaustad, Brendan Witt, Dustin Penner, Olli Jokinen, Brian Campbell, Bill Guerin, Ryan Smyth, Mathieu Schneider, Tomas Kaberle, etc all were traded for 1st rounders. Cammalleri provided he has a bounceback year should be worth as much as many of those players. A broken down Morrow returned a former 1st last year. Tons of example from history to support this, you just cherry picked one year.

In fact Mike Cammalleri has already been traded for a 1st round pick in his career. Sure he had a full year left on his deal but players value sometimes does not diminish as a pending UFA and sometimes can be even higher. BUF got more for Regehr as a pending UFA then we did with term left on Regehr's contract.

But yes, we might be smoking some awesome weed too. Doesn't diminish our argument. If Cammalleri gets back to his 30-40 goal form then he should easily be worth a 1st at the deadline. He'll likely be the best goalscorer available on the market and he has a good history in the playoffs with Montreal. I don't think there's much rose-colored or homerish analysis there, I think NHL history supports Cammalleri being worth that much when he's on his game.
