I heard that they're scared for the artisan cheese industry in Quebec, which confuses me cos if you look at the craft cheeses sold in supermarkets here, they seem to be made in 2 massive factories in Longeuil and Laval (opposite Quebec City).

Plus its gotta be great news for the Albertan Beef industry, last I read the beef quota had been increased to make it more economical for a chunk of farms/feedlots here to convert over to higher quality production (basically no hormones I believe) - in the long run this could all drive the quality of our steak up!
The diary opposition probably has to do with the fact that the supply management system and their guaranteed profits are probably going to take a hit. Had a long debate on here in a different thread about that topic and I was convinced that supply management isn't the way to go, even if the quality might take a hit. And the quality of Canadian Dairy is usually top notch.
