I think this play is being way overblown. The refs blew the whistle as soon as he was hit in the head and he started going down. It wasn't like they waited for 5 seconds, saw him rolling around, then decided to stop play. It was a bang-bang call, and I agree with it 100%.
Maybe I missed something, but it didn't look like he was embellishing anything. If he smiled it was probably because he was glad he wasn't injured on the play.
I don't care if it's a Flame, Duck, Canuck, Oiler, whatever.........if someone takes a puck to the head you blow the whistle. You don't wait for a while to try to see if the player is faking it or not.
