I have an ex-girlfriend who has put on about 50 pounds in the last 5 years, at the same time as I've lost 50. I was at her place helping her with something last week, and she was complaining about not being able to lose weight and she says, "It must be nice being a man and being able to lose weight easily".

No, actually, it's not easy. If it was easy, there would be no fat dudes. I never thought it would be easy to slim down; it takes a lot of effort and dedication to change yourself, and if you take the attitude that you are a special case who has challenges nobody else faces, you are going to fail. Those who criticize this woman on the basis that she has unique circumstances that make her an exceptional case are deceiving themselves.
