Bob Hartley, in no uncertain terms, ordered McGrattan to keep his mittens on.

“This is the relationship I have with Grats,” says the Flames coach. “Like, why send guys to the slaughterhouse just for the fun of it? Those days are way past. But we’re going to make some friends along the way. There’s going to be some community dances, and I’m sure that Grats might be one of the organizers.”

“Look at where he’s coming back from,” says Hartley. “We can teach him a lot, but he can teach us a lot, too. He touched the bottom of the barrel in his personal life. The way that he bounced back, that’s unbelievable — and I told him that. I have unbelievable respect for Grats. I love him.”
