It is pretty easy to discern on a well calibrated plasma, but much like other plasma benefits, is only readily seen in a dark or dimmed room. On a showroom floor, plasmas do not fare well against LCDs, and it's no surprise that the market for plasmas has fallen out when retailers aren't showing them in their ideal conditions.
