I'm all for debate if there is a development skew to this but it all seems to come down to emotional pleas to let the kid play. I don't buy that. If it's all about creating cherished memories then the Flames should be releasing Sean to go back to Ontario for Christmas dinner instead of flying to Sweden.
I see what youre saying, but just like the vast amount of NHL games he will play for the next number of years, he will (hopefully) have many more years of Christmas dinners with his family. This is literally a once in a lifetime opportunity. The only other time he could play for something similar would be a potential Olympic invite at some point in his career (which is also generally a once in a lifetime chance).
