A medal isn't guaranteed by the way, Canada hasn't won Gold in four years (the only medal that matters) and wasn't on the podium at all last year. What if Sean goes down and is, oh my, emotionally crushed by the experience, oh dear, all those cherished memories are now for nothing. 
TJ Brodie would probably ask you what the hell you're talking about and reply that he never played in the World Juniors so it didn't have an impact on what a good NHL player he's turned out to be. |

And I disagree with your position developmentally wise. I think it will be a terrific learning experience. The kids only 18 for gods sake. Any experience like this will contribute towards his development.
