I would add that the team's results should factor into whether he goes to the World Juniors or not.
If Monahan sticks with the Flames after his 9 games but by December the bubble has burst for the Flames and we're in full-on suck mode then the WJCs would be a nice change of pace for him. As in, if the team starts struggling soon and continue struggling until then, the atmosphere in the dressing room starts to suck and he could benefit from a brief change of scenery.
