Game 3 + 4: The Home Opener!

Quote:
The Abbotsford Heat will open their 2013-14 home schedule this weekend with a doubleheader against the Milwaukee Admirals (Affiliate of the Nashville Predators) at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre. The Heat were led by Ben Hanowski (2-1-3) and Paul Byron (0-3-3), who are tied for the team lead in scoring with three points each. In goal, Reto Berra made a fantastic first impression as he started both games, faced 66 total shots, and earned his first career AHL win on Friday night.

The Heat opened their season on the road in Lake Erie last weekend in which, earning a series split with the host Monsters.

Former Heat Assistant Captain Joe Piskula will make his return to Abbotsford this weekend as an Admiral. The Wisconsin native suited up for 171 games with the Heat over a span of three seasons, recording (6-26-32) and 172 penalty minutes. On February 28th, 2013, Piskula was traded by the Calgary Flames to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Brian McGratton.
It's been a long wait for Heat Hockey in the Fraser Valley. If residents are wise, they'll know this is the year to buy in to the home team. They've got plenty of skill, and many rising stars on their way to the NHL. It's a young team, but the goalies are seasoned Euro stoppers, and the coach and ritual are basically in place on the farm. Hanowski is turning heads early. And Berra will find himself fully adjusted to North American ice in no time it seems. Seiloff, Wotherspoon and Ramage make up half of the backend, which also features Cundari, Billins, and McKenzie. There are so many guys to watch on a given night now, and last weekend it was crazy to see all so many guys register their first pro point.

I am rooting for Josh Jooris this year. 1+1 in 2gp so far!
