I think the flames would be willing to take a bad contract (Mezaros) in return but they would need to get at least a 1st round pick or Sean Cotourier in exchange. Remember, Feaster would still have to convince him to waive.

I agree with your overall point, but I don't think that his value will increase as the season goes on. Due to his reasonable contract, I think he's actually more valuable if a team can have him for a larger portion of the season. I could see Philly making a short-sighted deal (their specialty) of Cotourier for Glencross now in hopes that they could make some noise this year, but they wouldn't do that later in the season if it looks like they're out of the running.
