I think he is a good coach and the loss on Sunday can be attributed to mental lapses from veterans ( mcgrattan, glencross, and wideman in overtime) more than coaching. These things happen and the flames don't have 2006 Kipper to make up for it anymore... They have Joey macdonald.
It's too bad in a lot of ways cause macdonald is exactly what the flames needed 2-3 seasons ago... When the flames were 2 or 3 points shy of a playoff spot. They were still getting 40+ wins from kipper... All they needed was a couple wins from their back up goalie and they would have been in the playoffs. Guys like macdonald, Garon, and budaj can get you those wins cause they are career backups that are used to it. During those seasons, the flames couldn't buy a win without kipper in net cause they didn't have a dependable backup goalie.
