Well, let's see...
Firstly, Craig Berube has 0 games head coaching experience in the NHL, and only 1 season in the AHL, which was 5 years ago. When your franchise is sinking so badly that you fire your coach 3 games into the season, I'd think you'd be looking for someone with a proven track record. This isn't a rebuild, it's a franchise spending right to the cap that has high expectations on it. With what's at stake, I think it's fair to say most franchises would hire an experienced head coach.
Secondly, Berube has been an assistant there for the past 5 seasons. Is hiring someone who preached Laviolette's system the right choice when it's apparent that system isn't working? In this instance, it really seems like you need a fresh voice from outside the organization.
