Bagor, I agree that stability is important. I don't think many people (other than the severely deluded) expected this to not be difficult. I think big error #1 for Moyes was sacking most of the coaching staff. Not sure if the hearsay about Mr. Ferguson suggesting to him that he not is true at all, but I think it was a dumb move. Of course it's a different situation from Liverpool having Hodgson take over. I'm not comparing the situations as much as I am the managers. When Hodgson took over Liverpool, I didn't believe in the whole "mid-table manager" talk that was going on. I felt that if he's able to overachieve with a Fulham, he could do it with Liverpool as well. I was dead wrong on that. Moyes' tactics are very conservative as well, and I don't believe fit with a squad who should be on the offensive gunning for wins, rather than protecting against losses. Perhaps he will evolve himself, but so far, Moyes' style has been pretty much exactly that.

Devo, I agree that it's a great thing to have that stability. I just think that seeing how incredibly rare that is, you have to realize that it's the exception, not the rule. When the idea of stability and quality can't be had together in the managerial position, I think quality should be chosen.
