and I like that. That's one area that United fans have always taken pride in ... can you name any other big club where two managers have spent more than 24 years each? I doubt you'll find one. That's one area where it was easy to mock clubs like Real or Bayern because they change managers as frequently as underwear. Many United fans had never seen another manager at the club than Ferguson, so it was comprehensible that they went for a manager who had a proven track record of successfully managing a club for a long time. I always wanted Moyes to succeed Ferguson and I still feel that way. We'll see if United is too big of a challenge for him, but it's still very early.
It's becoming more and more obvious that this season will be a transitional one. I'm pretty sure that we'll see a number of changes to the squad in January and in the summer, as Moyes continues to figure out the squad he has and decides who does have a future at United and who doesn't. Patience is key here, which is difficult because United fans are obviously spoiled after the Fergie years. I for myself have never witnessed a United finish outside of the top 3, and I bet that applies to the majority of the supporters. I am perfectly fine with not winning a title this year, as long as a positive trend is noticeable and the necessary squad changes are made.
