Whatever, I love seeing the Oilers suffer...especially when any fans I know have aggressively argued with me whenever I try to point out how mismanaged they've been over the past 5+ years

2012: Galchenyuk, Murray, Reinhart, Rielly > Yakupov (IMO).
2011: Landeskog, Huberdeau > RNH (Hamilton is close too).
2010: Can't argue with the 2010 pick (Hall over Seguin). I would have drafted the center at the time, but Seguin hasn't exactly been lights out.
I really think they missed in both 2011 and 2012. RNH is and remains so undersized that I would have been nervous about picking him. But then after they picked him, they played him right away. Stupid. The Yakupov pick was even worse. He might have been the talking heads BPA, but I certainly wasn't convinced at the time - Galchenyuk (a center) was very intriguing and taking a swing at one of the 10 defenseman (by perhaps trading down a few slots and filling other areas) would have been prudent.
Picking No. 1 and then having the picks play right away was, IMO, an effort to keep the hype train in Edmonton rolling. They missed on picks in 2011/12, sold the fan group that they had picked their own Crosby/Malkin or Toews/Kane and rushed the players to keep their jobs (Lowe).
When Flames fans cry out for more time for the "kids", putting too high of expectations on Monahan/Baertchi/Brodie or moan/groan about the vets Calgary has, the icetime they get or the fact that they aren't all traded for 20 year olds, take a look up north.
