Managements decision to bring him over was a good one. This is a rebuilding team that is also weak on solid prospect depth and management is trying to address that. They saw an opportunity to add a prospect to the pool for very little and they took it. Good move.

Agreed it would be ideal if they could have acquired Colborne and been able to have full flexibility in being able to send him down and not risk losing him, but that's not reality. This is the NHL, not novice hockey, so not everything has to be perfectly fair. The other players should and will have to understand the situation and deal. They are still being given the opportunity to compete for spots, and the Flames would have been foolish to pass up on adding the right type of prospect to the team due to not wanting to be unfair to others.
