I am not so sure... The Flames have at least 2 years, probably 3, where the cap will be a non-issue. In 3 years, $5.5m will be the price of a number 3 d-man. And he would have 2 years left.
If we could get him cheap, I think it's a decent risk. He might be done, but he might just need a change of scenery and a fresh start.
