Promoting Stempniak and Stajan (and Cammalleri) into taking on more minutes helps the team in multiple ways. Not only does it allow the kids to play sheltered minutes against weaker defenders but it also increases the trade value of these veterans that we will likely be shipping out at the deadline.
I would much rather see the Flames management "realize" that if they make Stajan and Stempniak look like valuable additions to the team that other teams will see that value and start a bidding war for their services. Then instead of sucking eggs for a "3rd rounder at best" we can try to trade Stempniak for a 2nd+. If he has 20 goals by the trade deadline then I would hope to get a 1st for him.

Yeah I don't see the upside you do.
Cammalerri will be the only player I think that the Flames could get something for, if he has a solid season. I think he could fetch a late first (if we eat a portion of his contract) to a late 2nd if we don't. However this is contingent on him coming back from injury looking like a legitamate threat. A wrist injured scares me as his game is one timers, and a wicked release.
Stemp in all honestly I think we will be lucky to get a 3rd rounder, not many teams will want to give up a 2nd for a 3rd line rental. I think at best he is worth a 3rd and a 6th.
Stajan isn't talented enough to be a top 6 center for a contender, and isn't strong enough on his skates to be a bottom six center for a contender. Someone might take a shot at him but with his contract, I don't see more then a 3rd and a 4th/5th. He could be a nice versatile, player who can play adequately in every situation and I think that is what the Flames will need to hope for.
Glencross has a NMC so it would be pointless to try to move him.
As well I am not saying don't play these guys, I am just saying don't give them all the prime minutes 1st line PP, last two minutes holding a lead/pressing to score.
I also don't want to see these guys over 20 minutes a game.
