That 2004 team goes nowhere if they don't have arguably the best player in the world in Iginla and arguably the best goalie as well. Throw in a top level defender (Regehr) and top level coaching and the chemistry was nice but much further down the list than straight out talent.
It's great that they are all buddy/buddy off the ice but that likely has about .2% of an effect when they are playing teams with much more talent than they have.

So how about Columbus last season? Was their (moderate granted) success strictly a result of Bobrovsky's play? Or was it a matter of a similar group of guys to what we have this season coming together and playing like a team. Phoenix has been doing it for years now.
Of course with Hartley coaching I don't think there will be a system in place that will allow this team to succeed. I hate to say it, but Brent Sutter would be the perfect coach for this group.
