I have read many parent guides like this one (which do not recommend this game for kids):

My son says if he did not play the missions, he would avoid the most mature content. Is there a way to turn down the gore and violence in the settings? If I supervised him when he played, can I be confident he won't see mature content? Are there safe areas of the game outside the story mode?

I don't know much about these games, and whether the worst content can be avoided. As parents, we think it is our duty to prohibit this game. Is it true many kids his age are really playing this game?
Tough spot. No way in hell I'd let a kid play this game though. Like others have mentioned it goes above and beyond in its sexual and violent content. I think because its interactive media as well, it different from just watching a movie. You need to have a mature enough mind to understand the content and often the satire behind it. Heck, a lot of adults probably aren't mature enough to handle it.

I think parents allowing their kids to play this is really irresponsible, and also I think it kind of ruins it for mature gamers as well, as kids could do the dumb things the games get blamed for. The notion that video games are strictly for children idea died a long time ago. There's different ratings for a reason.
