They still need some of their prospects to join the team soon (De Haan, Strome, Kabanov) but that is a team headed in the right direction with a ton of money to burn. Goaltending needs to be sorted out long term after Nabokov, so there is a hole to fill. Still, John Tavares at 5.5 million is an absolute steal.

It's actually amazing when you think that the Islanders have signed two of the worst contracts in NHL history (Yashin and Diepetro) and possibly the best contract with Tavares.
They were very lucky to be able to buyout those 2 bad contracts because without the buyouts they would be in big trouble.
