If "that's all" that Sven requires to become a great player, he's not someone I want as a corner stone of this franchise. For the record, I think it's way too early to worry about Sven either way, and if he needs to play AHL for one more year so be it, I'm not even close to worrying about the type of player he is, but this talk about we are trying to make him a plugger or a two way player is rediculous. Clearly they simply want the guy to go balls out every shift, versus skating around and picking his spots. This isn't about trying to turn Sven into Scotty Nichol (realize you didn't say it was), it's about makeing Sven carry himself, put in effort and act the way the organization wants the team to play.
Do you guys honestly think Crosby takes shifts off or only tries in one end of the ice. He has his strengths and weaknesses (very few mind you) but I guarantee he competes ALWAYS. Sven apparently needs to learn this still, glad the Flames are trying to get through.

Crosby is a generational talent. Baerischi has the potential to be a top 6 scoring threat. Just like Iginla, who was never defensive nor tried hard in his own zone. The guy was there to score...score more times than he was on the ice for goals against.
