Ryan Culkin update
CALGARY, AB -- Calgary Flames prospect Ryan Culkin has been named captain of his junior team, the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL.
The 19-year-old blueliner is in his fourth season with the Remparts. Culkin put together a career-year in the 2012-13 season, scoring 5 goals and 45 points through 67 games in Quebec.
Culkin recently attended Calgary's rookie camp, the 2013 Young Stars Classic and a portion the Flames main training camp. He suited up for a couple of pre-season games, including the first game in the Scotiabank Saddledome since the flood.
"It was a great experience playing at the Saddledome. I was a little bit intimidated in the beginning but after the first couple of shifts, I got into and I thought I played well," he said of his first NHL pre-season outing.
He he had one assist in his two pre-season games, picking up the secondary helper on Emile Poirier's tally against the Oilers on Sept. 14.
