I 'agree' with what Clarkson did - I want my teammates to stick up for each other and as a coach, GM or teammate, I am thanking Clarkson for his actions.
But that does not make his suspension any less justified.

Well that depends on whether or not the NHL 'agrees' with what Kessel did. They obviously don't think it was fully justified, but Shanahan sure didn't seem to have an issue with the first slash as defensive. If he doesn't go after him the second time I doubt he'd have gotten anything, might not have even gotten a penalty.
