It would be great if guys like Horak and Backlund (out of the NHL by 2014, book it!) could be stable NHLers by the end of the year, and maybe a few guys like Sieloff and Ferland and even Paul Byron start making the jump by the end of the year before the Gaudreau/Klimchuk/Porier start making the push.

Backlund is already a stable NHLer. Getting injured doesn't take away from his NHL player status. No chance he is out of the NHL in a year, unless he has a career ending injury. At worst he ends up a 3rd line C. More likely second line and he is going to fight for first line minutes this year with Stajan.
I agree with the rest though and also that we need to make room for rookies to come in now so that they can be staggered over the next few years instead of a massive influx of youth next season.
