I think most would agree, that if he and management think he is ready, burning a year of ELC is not that big of a deal. I also think that management will need to consider how to incorporate all of these young players in the next few years. Monahan/Poirier/Klimchuk/Seiloff/Wotherspoon/Ferland/Johnny/Agostino/Ekblad? all could be introduced to the NHL in the next few years. Likely not a good idea to have them break in all at once.
